The Winter Home for Bramblings, Chiri Mountain's Hwagae Valley

Bramblings are migrating birds that look like sparrows and they return to Siberia or Manchuria in late February or early March, after spending the winter in Korea.

The winter home for the bramblings is a bamboo tree field in Hwagae Valley, near Ssanggae Templeb - an area also famous for its cherry blossoms in Spring. The bramblings filled the skyline of Hawgae Valley and made a splendid performance for about forty minutes. However, they never returned after the winter of 1996. ...Photo by Byeon Hee-seok
