Joint Security Area
Throughout the 155-mile long armistice line, there is only one place free of military demarcation lines and where both North and South Koreas only have administrative jurisdiction rights: It is the special area within the Truce Village of Panmunjom, Joint Security Area (JSA).
With the Panmunjom meeting room at the center, the space within a radius of 800 meters is the Joint Security Area made according to an agreement signed in 1954 for the United Nations Command and the North Korean Military to place soldiers and to conduct the duties of joint security.
