Restaurants on Southern Cheju Island

Jinju Restaurant

Hot seafood stew (Tukbaegi) is one of the famous dish on Cheju Island. The Tukbaegi at Jinju is all the more delicious thanks to its unique way of preparing stock using abalones and shellfish. The large-size seafood stew costs about W12,000. Although, its quite expensive, broiled abalones are also the number one recommendation.

Wondoksongwon

Wondoksongwon is one of the oldest Chinese restaurants in Seogwipo. The recommended dish is fried pheasant, which, the owner says, can be tried at this restaurant only. If you like hot and spicy foods, hot seafood noodle is also an item up for recommendation.

Halla-seong

No other restaurant can be compared to this one in terms of pheasant "shabu shabu," or dipping pheasant meat into hot soup. After eating the meat, customers will be served with boiled noodles, which can also be dipped into the left-over soup. The meal costs about W35,000.

Jinmi Restaurant

On Cheju Island, Jinmi probably serves the best "Dageumbari," which is regarded as the best raw seafood from China. "Dageumbari" costs W150,000 per kilogram, relatively expensive compared to other seafood, but the owner say, it ensures the best taste. "Dageumbari" has different tastes according to its parts. If you want to try the dish out, it's better to call ahead to make reservation.
Located at the foot of the Sanbang Mountain, Sagye-ri, in Nam Cheju-gun.
